I'm sure you've all seen photos of the horrible flood damage in Vermont as a result of Tropical Storm Irene. And you've probably heard/read the stories about the way Vermonters are working to help one another deal with the damage. But that doesn't mean that they can't use help from the rest of us.
My sister who lives there tells me that food banks are low or empty. So I wanted to urge Daily Kossecks to use an easy way for people to donate to the Vermont Foodbank through their mobile phones. (According to my sister this is a particularly well-run food bank.)
Just text the word "foodnow" to 52000 to make an automatic $10 donation to the food bank. It will show up on your next cellphone bill.
The money collected will pay for food to be distributed to local food shelves most impacted by Irene.
This is the worst flood in Vermont since the 1927 Flood which was an epic event. Vermont is not a rich state, and any state would be overwhelmed by a flood like this.
Please Help! Thanks so much.
