Well, it's the first of the month, so it's time for the second of my monthly Dkos polls measuring this community's voter sentiment regarding the 2012 presidential election.
The first poll appeard Aug. 2, shortly after the debt ceiling "deal" was announced. As may have been expected from comments on this site, many kossaks were generally unhappy with President Obama, and registered that displeasure in the poll.
A total of 366 votes were cast, with the following results:
In 2012, I currently plan to cast my presidential election vote for:
Barrack Obama 53%
Bernie Sanders 23%
Third-party candidate 10%
Stayin' home 8%
Republican dipshit 3%
It's been another tumultuous month since the last poll. The stock market went through some wild gyrations, with the economy slowing to stall-out speed and unemployment hovering above 9%. Michelle Bachman won the Iowa straw poll. Rick Perry entered the race for the GOP nomination and vaulted to the head of the pack. President Obama kicked off his campaign with a bus tour in the Midwest, pushing trade agreements and a faster patent process. The rule of Libyan dictator Moamar Gadaffi was all but terminated.
A recent Quinippiac poll had President Obama in neck-and-neck races when matched against Perry or Mitt Romney. A little earlier, Gallup showed Obama neck-and-neck with Ron Paul as well. Even the certifiably wacky Bachman trailed Obama by only four points in a head-to-head matchup, according to Gallup.
Then, the president asked for a joint session of Congress to lay out his plans to get American moving in the right direction. But Speaker Boehner was busy that day, so the speech got pushed back.
So ... in light of all this, has President Obama done anything to shore up support among kossaks in the last month? Or will that support continue to erode?
What say you, kossaks?
PS: Please consider a tip, solely for the purpose of elevating the poll's visibility and providing more readers an opportunity to vote. Thanks for voting.
