Six years ago, during the horrors of the Abu Graib and the Bush administration, my film production partner and I created a short film called “After Twilight”. Set in the near future – we constructed an ‘alternate reality’ where Texas seceded from the Union and established a Theocratic Autocracy. After Twilight - the film.
The heroine of the story is a former librarian – forced to go ‘underground’ – where she joins up with an intra-faith group headed by Jesse the Liberator. The 35mm short film garnered numerous awards and is still available as a teaching tool for schools and civic groups dedicated to exposing the dangers of censorship, anti-science policies.
Little did we realize that our vision of the future would be this close to becoming reality so soon. When we created the short, we were inspired to expand the script into a feature length story we hope to make as a film. At the moment, that script is being turned into a graphic novel. Director Gary Watson, of Nu-Classic films is dedicating all the resources of his small production company to getting this cautionary tale told in an informing, entertaining and compelling way. Based in Houston, Texas - He has dedicated his life and production skills to producing documentaries and political spots for important social issues. “After Twilight” – the film and graphic novel is the crowning jewel of his efforts.
You can follow the developments of the graphic novel on Facebook - After Twilight Facebook Page.
Please drop by and show your support for Gary in his efforts to expose the theocracy from the heart of it’s location. This sort of courageous cutting edge story-telling is one of the best ways to expose the theocracy – since the Main Stream Media won’t tell the story.
"As nightfall does not come all at once, neither does oppression. In both instances, there is a twilight when everything remains seemingly unchanged. And it is in such twilight that we all must be most aware of change in the air — however slight — lest we become unwitting victims of the darkness." ~ Justice William O. Douglas.
