Jimmy doesn't read this blog, but he is a Democrat who is tired of politics. He just visited and told me he is so sick of Democrats and he wants Republicans and Democrats to work together. He is a small businessman from Wisconsin, running a successful family 50 year old pump business. He is a community leader, president of his boy scout council who volunteers many weeks of effort, each and every year. He is a conservationist and outdoorsman. And he wants politicians to stop playing games and get to work at fixing the country's problems. The risk is that people like Jimmy won't vote at all because of Democrats. He won't go Republican, but he might not show up at all.
I too was cheered up by this speech. I know lots of people are disappointed in Obama....me too at times. But I want to make America better for my kids and for many others. That is why I am a teacher. That is why I chose to work in WV, America's second poorest state, for a lot less than I made in industry. That is why I started a small business here, so my students could get jobs. And this speech made me feel like it is time for Obama to make a difference. Get out on the bus, Obama.
