Which side are you on, folks, which side are you on?
It's Labor Day at Equal Time Radio. We don't always stick to what the calendar says. With all of the attacks aimed at organized labor and the working class, the unions are taking their message to the streets.
Our first guest on the Friday, September 9, 2011 show is Nick Vafiades, Local Business Agent for the National Association of Letter Carriers. He tells us what’s actually happening with the United States Postal Service. Call your member of Congress. Tell them to support HR1351.
Next up, we address the situation in Longview, WA where a stand-off occurred between labor and an international company that, according to local newspaper reports included acts of violence and intimidation. What really happened in Longview, and what caused the uprising? Scott Mason, President of the International Longshoremen and Warehouse Union Local 23 joins us to bring some clarity on the event in question.
James Hoffa, Jr. is the guest speaker at a rally in Puyallup, WA to show support for his fellow Teamsters in the area. What is going on at Kroger owned Fred Meyer stores? To answer questions about issues facing warehouse workers there, Josh Putnam, who is a forklift driver and a member of the Teamsters union, joins us to explain how the changes proposed by management will affect him and his family.
