Tonight we're liveblogging the results of two special elections to the House:
NY-09: David Weprin (D) vs. Bob Turner (R)
NV-02: Kate Marshall (D) vs. Mark Amodei (R)
Poll closing times: New York: 9pm Eastern | Nevada: 10pm Eastern / 7pm Pacific
Results: New York | Nevada
8:30 PM PT (jeffmd): We had thought something was fishy with Washoe having only cast 38k votes with all precincts reporting - and indeed, the Nevada SoS page is now showing that zero Election day precincts are reporting in Washoe, not all. That's still not great for Marshall, but not as bad as what we'd initially thought.
8:32 PM PT (jeffmd): Downballot in NY, 5 of 6 ADs have been called for the Dems. The one left is the carnival in AD-54, where machine crony Espinal is headed for a plurality victory at 40%.
8:42 PM PT (jeffmd): Now at 53% reporting, more of Brooklyn is reporting and Weprin's margin in Queens has faded somewhat - not looking good by any means. Any guesses as to the mal-informed blather "analysis" that we'll be sure to hear tomorrow?
8:59 PM PT: The AP calls NY-09 for Republican Bob Turner. Needless to say, a major upset.
9:01 PM PT: Can't be long before the AP calls NV-02 for Mark Amodei either. He's up by 20 points with over 40% of the vote reporting.
9:03 PM PT: According to local reporter Karen Todd Griffin, Kate Marshall has called Mark Amodei to concede.
9:06 PM PT: Hmm. David Weprin is supposedly refusing to concede, but I'm not sure what the point of that would be.
9:08 PM PT: The AP calls NV-02 for Republican Mark Amodei.
9:09 PM PT: Uh, what? Alex Isenstadt tweets: "Weprin gets on stage, says he's not conceding, rushes off without taking qs and gets off into car that sped off." Why on earth?
