Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home!
Let's move to "this day in history." It's a rather craptacular day in SCOTUS history but a faboo day in the arts, so let's dispense with the ugly first. On this date in 1986, William H. Rehnquist, who probably had a white robe & hood hidden in the back of his closet, was sworn in as the 16th chief justice of the United States, and Antonin Scalia, who never met a DICK or Kochtopus he didn't like, joined the Supreme Court as an associate justice.
On the flip side of teh fail, September 26 is a great day in the arts for the following 3 reasons: T.S. Eliot was born on this date in 1888, George Gershwin was born on this date in 1898, and Abbey Road was "born" on this date in 1969! :D THAT is quite a group, boys & girls. :)
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"The John Boehner is Bad at His Job Hypothesis" - HA! I just love it when Rachel does this. ;D I know this thought is pretty damn horrible, but should the House remain in GOBP hands after November 2012, will Speaker Sobber Small Price to Pay Goldilocks still be Speaker? We then got a history lesson of the 1992 & 1994 elections. Yep, I remember that! The government shut down in 1995 did wonders for President Clinton's re - election; now, his marriage is another story. ;D Our government may or may not be shutting down again. Didn't we just leave this party? We're near our 3rd potential government shut down in just 9 months - once every 3 months. Golly! And, there's my probable next Governor - now - Rep. Mike Pence. *&^%$#@! {insert retching noise here} Some GOBP "leadership" in Congress might not actually want the government to shut down this time?! Uh - oh! Speaker Sobber allegedly threatened to take away some GOBP committee assignments if they voted against him in this most recent spending bill; members of his caucus didn't take him seriously. 48 GOBP voted against their Speaker last week. Not exactly your ringing endorsement there! John Stanton gets Speaker Sobber duty. The Senate reached a last - minute agreement to keep the proverbial lights on because FEMA has found some money they didn't think they had. Speaker Sobber's trying to tell members of his caucus what the American people think of them. I'm not seeing the current crop of the GOBP giving a rat's hiney hole about what the American people think of them! It's not just the rookies causing all the trouble, too.
"Press On" - Look at President Obama next to Bill Russell! He looks like a little squirt next to him! :D President Obama was fund raising out the yin - yang this past weekend; here's the CBC speech again. OK, Rachel played more of that speech than what I've seen so far; I feel a little bit better about the "stop complaining" thing. Having seen more, I think a little more that he was just caught up in the moment. Rachel is NOT thrilled with the way the "belt way media" has covered that CBC speech. Rep. Barbara Lee was at that speech this past weekend. The speech in total was nearly 40 minutes, and she apparently had no problem with anything he said.
"Cash for Cluckers" - Rachel's never heard of the REA? Damn honey! Of course, you were never a farm girl like I was. :) Lots of money are going to farms & small rural businesses. These places get more money if they can "go green." Now, about that Solyndra loan... Well, there are actually some "conservatives" all over the solar thing - in Mississippi?! Say what??!! But, what if it's a cloudy day???!!! ;D EJ Dionne gets sun duty. Does that make him the Sun King - at least for tonight?! :D
"Everybody Wins" - Who would've thunk this GOBP crowd would be all over the "everyone gets a trophy" memo? Talk about your socialism! Herman Cain won the FL straw poll followed by Ron Paul. Wow, Bat$hit lost out to Jon Huntsman?! $HIT! Santorum is very popular in PA & SC {insert adolescent juvenile joke here}. :D
No satellite chunks hit me over the weekend. Me thinks once I get back to work tomorrow, I will really wish some of it did! There are NASA ring tones. O...K... Oh dear, I'm not sure I'd wanna hear Jim Lovell's "Houston, we've had a problem" coming from someone's purse or pocket!
