A powerful Republican leader in the Alabama Senate is apologizing for referring to blacks as "aborigines."
Sen. Scott Beason said Tuesday he wants to make things right. He says his words were "careless and unnecessary."
GOP leaders have decided to let Beason remain as chairman of the powerful Senate Rules Committee.
Amazing. And very, very, sad. As I have said before, what amazes me is that rascist comments are never thought of as unpatriotic. If, say, you think a War is a mistake, you will be hounded as "un-American". But if you insult a group of Americans nobody calls you "un-American".

Words fail.
