Well again I am so glad to have left Georgia but very proud of my good friend and
attorney for standing up for the arts against the backwoods hypocritical puritans.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show...Remember that one? Evidently West Ga just heard
of it. They censured it. What came next brought a smile upon my face. I have a very
good friend who is my attorney. He is a magistrate judge. He is a musician and he is and actor. He is not from Ga. The Rocky Horror picture show scheduled for the community arts center in Carrollton, Ga. was due to run in October. A former DOC worker, now politician was brought a video of the play and it was decided not to be performed in the cultural arts center. Too risque for the community. HA !!!!!!!!!
I read the old paper up there time to time because I still have family trapped up there and folks like my friend and attorney, my sister, and a few friends (very few) are still
there. Now Wayne Garner, the decider in chief mayor has been accused of beating inmates and had lawsuits but he decided that the morals of the community could not handle Rocky Horror Picture Show. My friend, Jim Hopkins jumped in and decided to put the
production on himself. No tax dollars. Now let me get this straight......
Too Risque?

You would think that with a "Glee" tribute episode under its belt, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" would no longer be able to ruffle the feathers of purists -- but think again. More than 40 years after it was first released as a British rock musical, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is still stirring up controversy. Recently. a Georgia theatrical production of the sexual cult classic has been shut down by local political leaders who found the productions to be too risqué for their community. The production had been planned for reprisal at Atlanta's Plaza Theater. Although the city first allowed performances, when Georgia mayor Wayne Garner and his staff found a video of the rehearsals, they had second thoughts about the productions moral intentions. Mayor Garner has since stopped the entire production -- even after the show's organizers promised to restrict attendance to adults. The cast members have taken to »

A Carrollton attorney said Friday that he will match donations, dollar for dollar, to ensure that the Carroll County Community Theatre staging of “The Rocky Horror Show” goes on.
“There’s no limit,” James Hopkins told The Times-Georgian Friday afternoon. “I’ll put in whatever’s needed to make sure the show is put on.”
Hopkins said he has agreed to be the producer of the 1973 musical comedy.

http://www.times-georgian.com/...The bible toters of Georgia or some in that particuliar community have no problem in killing
an innocent man but feel their morals would be compromised with The Rocky Horror Picture Show shown in the Cultural arts center in the square. Well my good friend and excellent family lawyer and only one of five attorneys who can argue before the
Supreme court took up the cause.
The Huffington Post had the story as did the AJC and local papers, news media, and
Time Magazine. He has been protested.( papers said) I still have to talk to him..I am proud of his stand. The West Ga College has been protesting the Garner aspect You might say they have been occupying Carrollton Square. What next? What next for the backwoods politicians? Banning plays about different lifestyles, comedies with a curse word, the story of Darwin better known as the Monkey Trial? Seriously, what next? I wrote a talk back piece to the puritans this week and reminded them of their hypocrisy and their little blue jean ban that didn't improve morals any and basically called them out. Jim represents this family and is no liberal as far as I know but he does know fair. The man is no country bumpkin and possibly too culturally in tune with the times for that town but he is a win win lawyer and great actor. His life's work has been there. Jim Hopkins is a Navy veteran and community organizing, civic minded individual.
He has a wonderful wife and a dog named Max. He is on the right side of this issue.
I told you guys that area I was from was backwoods and just a little of the nonsense
for a few good Kossacks still enduring up there.
Oh the horror...The children..the children....
Let me say this...They have a huge drop out rate in Carroll County.
They want to control everything.
They ticket girl scouts
and now this.
