Dick Cheney's been in Vancouver BC,  starting his international book tour. GW Bush was in Toronto last week, September 20, meeting with fundraiser buddies; he addressed a room filled with the top 200 CEOs of Canada, and he picked up a six-figure fee.

The Swiss declared Bush a war criminal in February of this year, and denied him entry. The HRC reiterated the charges in June. Read this diary to see what a kerfuffle Bush created  when he tried to take a speaking engagement in Toronto last week; the organizers ended up lying to the protestors about Bush's appearance, all the while ignoring the central question: why is anyone associating with this criminal?

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Every now and then I get emails from or something to that effect.  I have been deleting them for a while now since I have been getting them for over a year and never heard of any indictments.  Is this petition affiliated with that website at all?

    •  Not sure. this petition was started just three (1+ / 0-)

Days ago, and it is not the petition that began on kos. that petition is also up there, but I found it almost impossible to get to this morning. if you go to Groups, one of the newest grouos has a White House petition project, and the link to their petition is available: theirs had 25 this morning. This one I linked to has ~2000.

I'll check this petition online and see if I can answer your question.  backinabit.

Instigate an independent investigation into the Bush Administration for violating the "War Crimes Act of 1996".
Although the practices of killing, torture, and inhuman treatment of prisoners at American-led detention centers like Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib are well-documented, those that handed down the orders have thus far escaped both public trial and punishment for violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2441, the "War Crimes Act of 1996". By bringing those involved with violating the Law to justice; most notably former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Richard Bruce "Dick" Cheney, Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales; Americans can finally repair the damage caused to its National Image and standing in the World Community, an image tarnished by this group of high-powered rogues and their attempts to subvert the law to their own whims.

Take a look at Yso's second post, the text of the petition is all there. This petition was started on September 25, by a person named Malcolm R. You can use the link provided and go see the petition without having a account.

Indictments against Bush administration officials began as early as mid-2007. In 2009 Spain stated that none of the Bush officials were welcome to visit and would be prosecuted and tried if they were detained in Spain. More indictments have come in the past year, as a result of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and other notables writing non-fiction books about their years at the WH. Cheney, for instance, admits water-boarding prisoners of war, and he states unquivocably that Bush gave the order for the torture of specific prisoners.

Indictments aren't arrests, however; until arrests are made, prosecution won't occur, even in the US.
