Hi everyone! This is a new series I'm hoping to institute here at the big OJ! Being a nature-lover, I write a lot of environmentally themed poetry, and I just can't wait to share it with all of you! Here is my first offering, entitled "running with the rain". Enjoy!
a pure stream emerging from the star-shaped opening of a dewy grotto,
gushing, spouting, spraying, splashing
pools swirling, ripples chirping
but lo! this stream runs foul, spreading pollution
washing the area with a dread stink, a creeping death
it is not clear, but a thick, dark, brown
as we take a step back we drink it in
that is no stream, your heart aches to see
warm, bubbling, frothy, putrefaction
a waterfall looms above, a brown haze lingers
your stomach stirs, dailykos reader
the ancients had a name for this flow, and you long to drink it
