I find it amazing that the media are hesitant to provide information on the ideology of the criminal who attacked congresswoman Giffords and killed 6 people. At least, the european press does not feel the need to filter things and reports things as they are.
There is no question that Loughner is a psychotic nut. His writings on you tube clearly establish that. But it is now emerging clearly that he also had anti-government and tea party-like views.
From the UK Telegraph:
One video, which contained a series of text set to music, made reference to revolution and told viewers: "You don't have to accept the federalist laws".
It called for a return to the gold standard, a common demand of Tea Party activists, and claimed that the government was imposing "mind control and brainwash on the people".
From the BBC News::
Videos of text posted on a Youtube channel set up the name Jared Lee Loughner show a deep distrust of the government and religion, describing US laws as "treasonous" and speaking repeatedly of his wish to create a new currency.
"The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar," one of the videos read.
His insane anti-government rants are classic Tea party insanity. The question is whether people who incite, directly or indirectly, violence against the government will be allowed to continue or should lose their jobs. Will people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh be allowed to continue their fraudulent anti-government preachings? I really dont think they believe in what they say and they do it just for the money. But when they promote an insane theory against the government, there are others who believe in what they hear and the consequences can be tragic, as in that case.
UPDATE: There is also this story from The Herald Sun from Australia::
An internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) memo quoted by FOX News Channel revealed the gunman - named by the media as Jared Loughner, 22 - is "possibly linked" to American Renaissance.
The group subscribes to an ideology that is "anti-government, anti-immigration, anti-ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti-Semitic," according to the DHS memo.
And poster Tanya, who gave the tip, also posted in the comments a link to the website of this anti-government far right organization.
