Well, it has begun.
The solidarity protest has just begun here in Minneapolis, MN. It looks like former Governor Jesse Ventura was one of the first to arrive. From what I have heard there are already from what I hear at least 100 people at the Government Center in downtown Minneapolis and it is growing.
I wish I could leave work right now as I don't want to miss out on any of this.
More below the the Orange Squiggle of Democracy....
Here is the report I just read.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Hundreds of Minnesota activists plan to converge on the Hennepin County Government Center plaza in solidarity with the demonstrations against Wall Street.
The protesters plan to “occupy” the plaza starting Friday, and say they will stay there until they see major changes. The protesters have varied causes but have spoken largely about unemployment, economic inequality and corporate greed.
Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura was out on the plaza Friday morning.
The Occupy Wall Street protests started Sept. 17 in New York with a few dozen demonstrators. Since then, hundreds have set up camp in lower Manhattan. Related demonstrations have popped up around the country.
Officials say they’ll allow the occupation in Minneapolis, as long as protesters don’t break any laws. Occupy Minnesota organizers are planning workshops Friday afternoon, followed by a rally at 5 p.m.
I will be leaving work at 5:00pm this evening and heading down to participate in this solidarity event. I am super excited to be a part of this and execise my 1st amendment rights.
This is history in the making and I want to be a part of it. If anyone from the area surrounding the Twin Cities is as fed up with the greedy bankers, corporations and politcians as I am, then please make it down to the Hennepin County Government Center today.
Heres the address:
Hennepin County Government Plaza
300 South 6th Street
Minneapolis, MN 55487-0999
I hope to see my fellow 99%ers from Minnesota standing with me against the greedy, corrupt criminals of Wallstreet.
We are the 99%
The corrupt fear us.
The honest support us.
The heroic join us.
