A few weeks back we spent the weekend in Chicago and got to do some 'extra' things we hadn't done in trips past. Between art museums, walking through the city, architecture tours, and good food, it was a wonderful trip to one of my favorite places, ever.
We went to Chicago in the middle of September and had a fantastic trip. It's Friday afternoon, this has been an impossibly long week, and I thought you all might enjoy getting to have a little photo-vacation on me. Here's a sampling of my favorites:
The AIA boat tour is among my favorite things to do when I get to town:
Crain Communications (An Atwood / Root Building) with the Carbon and Carbide building in the background (a Burnham building)
Afternoon on the River
Oriental Theater
The Reliance Building (one of my favorites - its story is pretty astounding!)
The Chicago Theater
And an HDR/Filmgrain edit of the Theater
Wannabe President Hairpiece's little place on the River...
Every time I see the NBC Building, I think of our exercises in music theory when we had to sing the NBC song to remember a perfect 6th.
I love getting to take advantage of public transportation... and taking photos along the way. Several of my train shots were picked up by bloggers; everything I post to instagram is posted to tumblr as well, so that was a bit of an ego boost.
