Good morning. The Home Repair shop is open and I'm glad to be back after my weekend in San Francisco. Thanks to boatgeek for the informative article on water supply and for manning the shop in my absence.
San Fran remains my favorite city, and this trip marked 45 years since my first arrival there in 1966. Part of my reason for this trip was to gather with others who were there then and memorialize the life of Peter Berg, who was one of the founders of the diggers, and who later became the prime proponent of the consciousness known as "bioregionalism".
I don't have time this morning, but each of those topics is worthy of a book in itself. In fact, while I was in SF, I was interviewed by writer researching the diggers, and another writer, also working independently on the same topic, came out to the ranch last month for the same purpose.
Sunday night I had dinner with the SF contingent of Kossaks. Mr. and Mrs. Glen the Plumber, (yes, he really is a professional plumber), Mr. and Mrs. side pocket (notorious pool shark and organic farmer), lorikeet and norm attended, with navajo there in spirit.
I also need to give a shout of thanks out to Kossak Miep for her generous donation that made the trip possible.
Out here on the high desert, it is Autumn, and it is the coldest morning so far, with the temp down to 42 degrees. We're harvesting various crops from our gardens and the larder is getting full of local food, including lamb, beef, goat and pork all raised here in the valley by my neighbors.
Yesterday I finally (you don't want to know how long the "rough-in" plumbing for this has been there) the tiny corner pedestal sink in the "powder room". This took a bit of doing, but I just lucked out on the positioning of the rough-ins (drain and supply) to receive the connections to the sink. I can still function as a plumber.
Thanks for stopping by...
