Herman cain't win, but Mr.Goodhair is shining a spotlighton Mit Romney's flip flops.
This is how Rick Perry rolls. Rick Perry has not lost a race in 26 years. Rick Perry's demise has been greatly exaggerated and many a eulogy has been retracted. I stlll think Perry has a good chance to beat Mitt Romney.
More below the fold:
While Perry did himself no favors by pointing out that the Republican primary voters are heartless, he still has a record much closer to what those voters like than Mitt Romney.
Mitt Romney is really all about one thing: himself. He doesn't have any core values. His ethic is : what is good for me is virtuous ad what is what is bad for me is evil. If he can make money for himself and his rich friends, who cares ifthousandsof workers lose their jobs
Massachusetts supports equal rights and tolerance = repeal DADT
Hence, Mitt supported repealing DADT when running there for governor
He said that he would be more of an advocate for LGBT than Senator Ted Kennedy.
Massachusetts supports a woman's right to choose.
Hence, Mitt supported a woman's right to choose.
Massachusetts supports universal healthcare and an individual mandate.
Hence, Mitt supported Romney care.
Now, Mitt Romney faces a new electorate: The Republican Primary Electorate.
They don't support equal rights or tolerance.
Hence, he does not support equal rights for our LGBT friends.
They oppose civil unions.
Hence, he now opposes civil unions.
They do not support a woman's right to choose.
Hence, he does not support a woman's right to choose.
They favor letting people die and having many people be uninsured.
Hence, he now opposes an individual mandate and attempts at near universal coverage.
They are xenophobic and do not support providing a path to citizenship for our undocumented workers.
Hence, he now opposes providing a path to citizenship.
He will say whatever he thinks that his electorate wants to hear in order to get elected. Because of his inconsistency, it is impossible to know what he really supports, if anything.
Many Republican primary voters are already aware of this. This is why Mitt Romney cannot get out of the mid 20's in national polls of Republican voters. The more well known this becomes, the more difficult it will be for Mitt Romney to win the nomination. And Rick Perry is going to make sure that every Republican primary voter in the early voting states knows this.
If Rick Perry uses this properly and gives it enough air time and funds this message well enough, Mitt Romney will be done.
There are a lot of reasons not to elect me, indeed. lol.
ABC News, citing an unnamed GOP source, reports Perry is about to launch a multi-million dollar ad campaign in early presidential states aimed at Romney, who has reclaimed the top spot in recent national surveys by ABC News/Washington Post, CBS News and others.
Michelle Bachman is on board with this effort as well. She and the other actual conservatives realize that once Romney is removed, the field is wide open. They may tell themselves that Mitt Romney can't win since the base will not show up for him in the general.
Among his rivals, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann have started to assail him for being wobbly on the issues.
"For some candidates, pro-life is an election-year slogan to follow the prevailing political winds," Perry told social conservatives recently. And Bachmann said: "You won't find YouTube clips of me speaking in support of Roe versus Wade. You won't find me equivocating or hemming or hawing when I'm asked to define marriage as between one man and one woman."
Neither mentioned Romney by name but the comments, three months before primary voting begins, were obviously aimed at him. The remarks signaled the likely start of a new phase in the GOP nomination fight as his opponents look to derail the failed 2008 candidate, who sits atop national opinion polls and on a mound of campaign cash while shoring up support among the party's establishment.
