It has just been announced that the Democratic Party of Wisconsin will begin gathering petition signatures to recall Gov. Scott Walker on Nov. 15.
They will have 60 days to gather a minimum of 540,206 signatures, with a filing deadline of Jan. 13.
With numerous upcoming holidays and the onset of winter, this will not be an easy task. However, Wisconsin Democrats are forging ahead anyway, and have already begun to train volunteers to gather petitions. You can help them out by contributing $5 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin on Act Blue.
While it is unclear exactly when a recall election would take place, the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board told Dane101 it will not be concurrent with the Republican presidential primary.
There is also no word on the Democratic candidate who will oppose Walker. Instead of discussing potential candidates, the Wisconsin Democrats told Daily Kos they were focused on training volunteers to gather the necessary recall signatures.
Further, the Wisconsin Democrats have confirmed to they will work with citizen-driven, grassroots efforts to recall additional Republican state senators. After our two successful recalls in August, Republicans now hold only the narrowest possible advantage in the chamber, 17-16.
It's time to finish what was started during the protests back in February. Please, contribute $5 to recall Scott Walker now.
