6:18 PM PT: Let me just say, Anderson Cooper is 10 times better at moderating debates than Wolf Blitzer or Charlie Rose. He really is moderating a lively debate. And I have to say, Rick Perry finally looks comfortable on the stage. Not that that has anything to do with Anderson Cooper. But clearly Coop is working for him.
6:20 PM PT: The Mormon question hits the fan.
6:21 PM PT: The Romney-friendly audience angrily boos the mention of Robert Jeffress, the pastor who bashed Mormonism. Santorum basically says Romney won't be saved, but that his faith would make him a fine president.
6:22 PM PT: Newt Gingrich says something about morals and faith. He knows a lot about that because he keeps on doing it over and over, different women, different religions.
6:24 PM PT: Perry at least initially doesn't repudiate Jeffress, when asked to by Anderson Cooper, but says he doesn't agree with Jeffress, but makes it careful to be clear that he is a Christian and will govern as a Christian. He also says it's important to have the right for Jeffress to say the kinds of things he said.
6:26 PM PT: Romney says he's not too worried about what Jeffress said about Mormonism, but that the thing that offended him about what Jeffress said was the idea that there should be a religious test.
