A couple of posts the other day got me to thinking about the coming winter. Many people are predicting that the #occupy wall street movement will evaporate as soon as the cold and snow arrive. I have been wondering a bit myself what's going to happen in the northern parts of the country this winter. Any way you look at it, it's going to be rough duty for the people holding the line. Valley Forge is coming. If we give up the camps we may never get them back. On the other hand if we can hold the camps through the ice and snow and wind of the northern winter, then they will know that we are serious people.
A Winter of Discontent
What's coming for OWS: Valley Forge
These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.

Occupy Salt Lake City
#Occupy Salt Lake City is entering it's third week and from the number of tents at Pioneer Park it doesn't look like anybody is leaving anytime soon. But it's still balmy weather in the 60's. I have only been down to the camp twice since it started on October 5th. College students seem to be the driving force behind it but you see all kinds. I wonder how many of the college kids I saw at the park has any experience in cold weather camping. I do. The police won't allow propane in the park. You know, I still have some cold weather gear around here, someplace. I have parts from two different tents, someplace. I know where my folding camp chair is though. It might be time for me to step up to plate and give the kids a hand. I'll tell ya right now the thought of winter camping doesn't exactly give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, but what the hell, I guess I'll be spending some time at Valley Forge this winter. I bought a Betsy Ross flag on ebay for $5. We had a cold winter last year. But look at the bright side, at least I don't live in Duluth.
