I've been staring at this computer screen for, oh, somewhere around ninety minutes and counting, and have come up with no profound (or even ordinary) thoughts for this diary. I have no questions, and I certainly have no answers. And so I'm left only with this one question, which I invite you all to answer in the comments: For what shall we pray this evening?
Welcome to Brothers and Sisters, the weekly meet-up for prayer* and community at Daily Kos. We put an asterisk on pray* to acknowledge that not everyone uses conventional religious language, but may want to share joys and concerns, or simply take solace in a meditative atmosphere. Anyone who comes in the spirit of mutual respect, warmth and healing, is welcome.
Here are some of my prayers for this evening:
For all those (especially those in our own community) suffering illnesses of the body, mind or spirit, I ask comfort.
For those who live in fear--fear of violence, of getting sick without health care, of foreclosure, of the future, I ask peace.
For all those fighting for a more just world, I ask courage and persistence.
For those without food, I ask that all of us with enough to eat recognize our abundance and share it willingly.
For those who are lonely, I ask that someone show them how much they are loved.
And for what else shall we pray?
