C'Mon...I had to replace the usual logo with this gem for just tonight!

I got some Halloween history for ya' right here along with some other "this day in history" treats...or tricks. ;D On this date in 1938, the day after his "War of the Worlds" broadcast had panicked radio listeners, Orson Welles expressed "deep regret" but also bewilderment that anyone had thought the show was real. I agree; people can be damn dumb!

Happy 80th birthday to Dan Rather!

Let's Countdown! But first, a little treat to partially make up for the above "tricks." ;D

#5 "Harming Herm?" AKA "Cain's Crash?" AKA "Perry Unplugged" AKA "Peculiar Perry" - So, at least according to Politico this past weekend, 'ol "Herb" may have just taken a lesson or 2 from the Clarence Thomas playbook of working with female employees that were subordinate to you. Oh well, Clarence got on SCOTUS! "Herb" might not get the GOBP nomination, but I can SO see him & Governor "SPARK" anchoring some sort of relationship advice show on FAUX News - HA! 'Ol "Herb" didn't even have the good sense to cancel his appearances scheduled for today - dumb $hit. Some of the campaign coin for "Herb"ie just might have also come from places it shouldn't have come from - yes, even in this post - Citizen's United world! ;D Evan McMorris Santoro has been on "Herb" duty a lot lately. He identifies with Clarence Thomas, huh? ;D Keith asked about the potential of this scandal being a way out of a fake campaign. Well, I guess, but this shtick is a hell of an elaborate way to exit stage right! HOWEVER, "Herb"'s got that Kochtopus coin behind him! Well...well...well... ;D Governor Secession's got the same poll numbers at Newt the Nazi Lover?! $hit! Well, I still stand by my nomination prediction. ;D Governor Secession might be taking some Boss Limbaugh quality drugs for a back problem? Well, if the dude's actually in pain, then I don't want to make fun of him; however, if he's claiming he's off the stuff but isn't then...well... Golly, he was just downright silly in NH! Maybe, he was just drunk. Matt Taibbi gets Governor Secession duty in studio. I read that Rolling Stone article, and it is SOMETHING! "Whore" might be too nice of a word. Laughing gas! THAT'S an explanation! :D Governor Secession saw tea baggers before the rest of us did; insert juvenile adolescent joke here. ;D

#4 "Occupy Day 45" AKA "Police VS. Protestors" - A whole lot of Occupy protestors were arrested over the weekend, and some law enforcement are even using bulldozers to clear out protestors' belongings. Some protestors are beginning to display their wounds. Portland, OR cops displayed some mug shots on Facebook?! THAT can't be legal, can it??!! The Kochtopus got marched on this weekend in KS?! HA!!! :D Jeannie Hartley is a member of the Occupy Denver media team. Her definition of "unruly" is different from the Denver PD version. The Denver cops SHOWED UP in riot gear; one doesn't need to protect protestors - unarmed protestors - in riot gear. Nashville protestors won a victory in court; other cities might soon follow based on ACLU action in TN.

#3 "Weathering the Storm" AKA "Power for the People" - The NYPD decided to take generators out of Zucotti Park right before a "snow event" along the East Coast over the weekend. Well, and I'm NOT siding with the NYPD here, but that will be a damn good preview of things to come when the weather actually winterizes for real! The NYPD might be bringing some drunks and other "lovely" folk to the park, too. Ryan Devereaux's back in studio to talk generators - or lack thereof. The fire department usually gives folk notice to correct violations; such notice was not granted to people in the park.

{Breaking News - An Occupy Oklahoma City protestor died in his tent from natural causes.}

"Time Marches On!" - A puppy! :) Said puppy doesn't like the ice ice baby. A guy in Syria tried pulling a train up a hill. Well, at least the government wasn't filling him full of lead during the attempt! A MI reporter kind of blew her cool in a haunted house. ;D

WPITW - The Toronto mayor made a return appearance from Friday night - which I missed due to date with Hubby. So, he dropped a slew of "f bombs" or something? Do Canadians not use the "F bomb"? I think they do; I've seen Terrance & Philip after all. ;D Keith, did we really need to see that NJ mayor pic again?! The town council might boot him out. A law firm has a funny idea about how to celebrate Halloween & their costume choices.

#1 "Beware the Occupyers" AKA "FOX & Fears" AKA "Occupying the Future" - Just guess how FAUX News is portraying the Occupy protests? Sure as $hit NOT how they portray the tea baggers, THAT'S for damn sure. Eliot Spitzer's in studio to talk the future of Occupy. They have changed the dialogue from "debt" to "jobs" to "income inequality" to... Governor Spitzer wants to strike up the band - literally - 60s style! He also suggested a break to get some brainiacs to come up with actual policy to present.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
