Herman Cain can't remember? Or just doesn't want to? (Jonathan Ernst/Reuters)
So I just read through
the transcript of Herman Cain's interview last night with Greta Van Susteren on Fox, the one in which he
flatly contradicted his claim earlier in the day that he was never involved in any sort of payout to settle sexual harassment charges.
One of the things that leaped out at me: Cain said he didn't recall or couldn't remember the facts of the case at least 25 times. That would a reasonable thing for him to say if this was something that had just been sprung upon him out of the blue, but this story has been swirling for weeks if not longer. He's had plenty of time to go back and refresh his memory and get his story together.
And the fact that he hasn't suggests he's either totally incompetent or that there's more to the story than he's letting on. I'd bet on the latter.
