If your life is like mine these days with more "downs" than "ups", here's a thought that will hopefully bring a grin. :D
On that note, let's get historical! On this date in 1512, Michelangelo's paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel were first exhibited to the public. And, if you've seen 2012, you know to not get too attached to them 'cause they're goin' down. ;D In an event I actually learned about this past summer at the Truman POTUS Library, on this date in 1950, two Puerto Rican nationalists tried to force their way into Blair House in Washington to assassinate President Harry S. Truman. One of the assailants was killed. 1 of them had even gotten IN the damn house & was running up the stairs when Secret Service got him. On this date in 1991, Clarence Thomas took his place as a "justice" on the Supreme Court.
And, to end on not such a damn downer note but having absolutely nothing to do with "this day in history,"
Laughter is always in season! On with The Rachel Maddow Show...
"Slurry with the Fringe on Top" - There was an ugly yucky coal muck spill in WI today. Gee, hasn't that poor state been through enough? A bunch of that $hit went into Lake Michigan, but coal ash won't hurt anyone at all - according to the company that's responsible for the spill. Well, the big key is if it's a "natural" product because even Bat$hit Bachmann says something "natural" can't hurt you! ;D The EPA now doesn't have the authority to do anything about coal ash thanks to GOBP in Congress. That power plants in Rep. Paul "Kill Medicare" Ryan's district?! I wonder if he'll be asking for any federal aid for clean - up? And, boys & girls, what job creating legislation was passed in the House today? It was the reaffirming of "In God We Trust" as our national motto. What GOBP said no?! ;D Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't add a "spark yea!" a la Team America. There couldn't be a "stand alone resolution" congratulating our forces, the CIA, etc. for getting OBL, but Congress could spend a day on "In God We Trust." John Stanton gets hypocrite duty.
"No Visible Means of Support" - A private non - profit group in WI - gracious, WI is getting a lot of attention tonight! - began the first big support of "Herb"'s POTUS campaign. They bought IPads, jets, etc. These expenditures are in the non - profits books but not "Herb"'s. So, his campaign could be illegally & anonymously funded! Daniel Bice broke this story. He's been working on this story for a long damn time - lucky guy! Conservative wealthy people are funding "Herb"? "People" like the Kochtopus?!
"Profiles in Discourage" - Our country has low voting rates for lots of reasons. Making it difficult to vote is a big reason, and a whole mess of GOBP are doing this now (and probably then) on purpose! What the spark's up with Georgia?! $HIT! My fair state has the most horrible restrictive voting rules I know of - even without the voter ID $hit that's been around for awhile. A couple teachers in FL are now in trouble with the law for violating new horrible voter registration laws. The poor FL county supervisor that had to turn in 1 of those teachers is talking to Rachel. Poor Ann McFall ain't feeling real good about her job these days; I wouldn't either. Half of 5000 teachers in that county do voter registration drives for their seniors in high school. So, are all those teachers gonna be tried, convicted, etc.? Talk about a waste of tax payer money! Ms. McFall is a registered GOBP, but voter registration is not a partisan issue with her. She wants transparent fair elections?! Well, she'll get drummed out of the party in 5...4...3...2...
"#OccupyWinter" - Yep, we all remember the NYPD taking generators away from Zucotti Park. A lot of winter clothes were passed out this past weekend, but they'll hopefully stick it out. Remember Madison, WI in February & March of this year! Occupy Oakland's planning to take over abandoned buildings. OK, I've been in & around San Francisco in winter months; it doesn't get that cold. It ain't comfortable to be sure, but it sure as $hit ain't no below zero like a whole mess of other places!
