Governor Walker called a special "jobs" session of the legislature back in late September. The state Assembly and Senate did not meet until October 18th because, well...I guess jobs are not that important.
Here is a list of all of the bills debated in the State Assembly since October 18th:
Assembly Resolution 15 Relating to: proclaiming October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Assembly Joint Resolution 43 Relating to: the life and public service of Sheriff Raymond Klink.
Assembly Bill 1 Relating to: processing refunds for the jobs tax credit. (FE)
Assembly Bill 46 Relating to: eliminating the World Dairy Center Authority.
Assembly Bill 99 Relating to: prohibiting the Department of Natural Resources from establishing certain restrictions on hunting antlered deer and regulating the establishment of fall open seasons for hunting deer with firearms and Senate Bill 75 Relating to: prohibiting the Department of Natural Resources from establishing certain restrictions on hunting antlered deer and regulating the establishment of fall open seasons for hunting deer with firearms.
Assembly Bill 163 Relating to: a disclosure report for sellers of vacant land.
Assembly Bill 165 Relating to: the display of turf fertilizer containing phosphorus.
Assembly Bill 179 Relating to: authorizing the creation of a multijurisdictional tax incremental financing district
Assembly Bill 210 Relating to: implementing health insurance reform, providing an exemption from emergency rule procedures, and granting rule-making authority.
Assembly Bill 228 Relating to: exemptions from securities registration requirements.
Assembly Bill 229 Relating to: repealing a prohibition on certain nonessential uses of natural gas.
Assembly Bill 273 Relating to: the loan program for property taxes imposed as a result of an error in equalized value and making an appropriation.
Assembly Bill 80 Relating to: operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver's license or after suspension or revocation of an operating privilege and providing penalties.
I was going to list out every bill that was in the State Assembly and Senate. However, every day is the same: not a single jobs bill. It reminds me of the movie Groundhog Day, the same thing every day. If you want to see the full calendars go here and click on 2011 Assembly and Senate Daily Floor Calendars. Check them out from October 18th through November 3rd: It is nothing more than a list of GOP bills that they are shoving through before the upcoming recall elections.
Mark Pocan (D-Madison) had this to say about this special session:
“Tonight, rather than focusing on job creation, Republicans passed bills that focus on legal fees and the justice system. These bills will not create a single job. When Democrats gave Republicans the chance to take up actual job creation bills, even bills authored by members of their own caucus, the party of Scott Walker refused, showing us they’d rather make it harder for the average Wisconsinite to have their day in court than to focus on job creation.”
Jobs? Nah, it is more important to pass a bill (Senate Bill 237) that removes reality-based sex education from classrooms and replaces it with abstinence-based education.
We don’t need jobs at all...move along, nothing to see here.
