Boehner must be taking a lead from Herman Cain -- John, like Herman, didn't fess up, where fessing was due ... instead he is just making "stuff up" ...
That could get a person in trouble ...
Boehner Calls Norquist, Engineer of 'The Pledge,' Just 'Some Random Person'
by Maggie Astor, The International Business Times -- Nov 3, 2011
According to House Speaker John Boehner, Grover Norquist -- the man who has gotten nearly every Republican in Congress to pledge never to raise taxes -- is just "some random person."
[...]
Many words have been used to describe Norquist, the president of Americans for Tax Reform and one of the architects of the 1994 Contract with America, but "random" is a new one.
Norquist Anti-Tax Pledge Is Conservative Litmus Test
[...]
Today, the pledge is a de facto prerequisite for any Republican running for political office. Of the 289 Republicans in Congress, more than 95 percent have signed the pledge. Only 13 -- seven in the Senate and six in the House of Representatives -- have not done so, and Norquist lists them on the Americans for Tax Reform Web site as a sort of hall of shame.
Question is, will the Corporate Media just let this Boehnerism slide?
Or will they follow-up with more pointed questioning, about WHO is really setting the rules, and pulling the strings, for the modern-day Republican Party?
Here's a few reminders John, to help fill-in those missing episodes, in your very spotty memory:
John Boehner Forgot Who Grover Norquist Is
by Elspeth Reeve, theAtlanticWire -- Nov 3, 2011
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been attacking Republicans as being "terrified" of violating Norquist's pledge, which has been signed by 275 of 288 Republicans in Congress. "They're in a thrall, my Republican colleagues, they’re in submission to a man whose singular focus is keeping taxes low for the very, very, very wealthy no matter what the effect on the nation," Reid said Wednesday, as The Hill's Alexander Bolton reports. The Democrat quoted former Sen. Alan Simpson, a Republican, saying "The only thing [Norquist] can do is try to defeat you for reelection, and if that means more to you than your country, you really shouldn’t be in Congress."
Perhaps the Speaker will recall more than a few elections where Grover's random group has pulled out all Campaign Ad stops to sway the public about 'who hates them some Taxes' and who doesn't ...
This kind of Grover campaigning usually sends some chills up the GOP-wantabee spine ... (assuming they haven't already "signed those" away yet.)
ATR Reminds Louisiana Primary Voters of Pledge Signers
Americans for Tax Reform -- atr.org
Americans for Tax Reform reminds voters in the Louisiana Primaries of those incumbents and challengers who have signed the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.
Louisiana's primaries for state legislative races will be held tomorrow. When Pelican State voters go to the polls they should remember those incumbents and challengers who have taken a firm stance on opposing higher taxes by signing the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. These incumbents and candidates have made a clear commitment to voters that they will oppose and vote against all efforts to raise their taxes.
Perhaps John Boehner has heard of this random tidbit from the Wall Street Journal, about the role Grover Norquist really has ... that he's the "Lenin of Anti-Taxes" -- that's about as random a Dictator, as you can find ...
Kind makes you wonder what's left over, for a mere Speaker of the House, to do ...

As an organization, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) is best known for its "Taxpayer Protection Pledge," which asks candidates for federal and state office to commit themselves in writing to oppose all tax increases. A 4 million dollar budget to Halt all Taxes, in our lifetimes -- yup that's pretty random.
Front Group operators, don't hardly get anymore anonymous than Grover ...

Ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council
ATR is a member of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).[1]
ALEC is not a lobby; it is not a front group. It is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, behind closed doors, corporations hand state legislators the changes to the law they desire that directly benefit their bottom line. Along with legislators, corporations have membership in ALEC. Corporations sit on all nine ALEC task forces and vote with legislators to approve “model” bills. [...]
Perhaps Speaker Boehner should check his Rolledex Speed-Dail -- I bet the Office of Grover Norquist, is listed in their somewhere ... in that lobbyist chaos ... Look for "ATR" for short.
Just "Press Play" John, see who picks up ...
Boehner: Norquist just some 'random person'
by NBC's Luke Russert, msnbc firstread -- 2011/11/03
[...]
The test of Norquist's sway, though, will come in the next few weeks, when the bipartisan, bicameral supercommittee is set to make its recommendations as to how to achieve as much as $1.5 trillion in deficit reduction. Republican members of the panel are under pressure to agree to new revenues through tax reform, a prospect which Norquist has already decried.
Democrats and even some Republicans feel he has undue influence on deficit discussions because Republicans worry if they support any type of tax increase, Norquist’s group will attack them come election season.
[...]
Earlier in the week, he [Senate, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV)] said: "My Republican friends, these poor folks, are being led like puppets by Grover Norquist ... They’re giving speeches that we should compromise on our deficit, but never do they compromise on Grover Norquist. He is their leader.”
So, there ya go -- the real reason for Boehner's amnesia ...
The Speaker really didn't want to let on -- Who is really calling the shots for the GOP ...
Because THAT would be really hard to explain away ... just ask Herm about how difficult that task of "telling the truth" can be ... it's much, much easier to "not recall" ... and then rely on the Media to "not recall" too.
