So -- turns out that the daughter of WalMart founder Sam Walton -- herself the third wealthiest woman in the world -- is building an art museum in Bentonville, Arkansas. She says she wants to expose the local peasants to fine art.
Estimates of the cost to build the museum are around $150 million, and this does not include the estimated $200 million or more spent buying artwork to put in the musuem. Then, there's the $1.4 billion that WalMart donates each year to "charities" -- most of them associated with WalMart family members.
Do you suppose the thought ever entered their minds -- instead of building monuments to themselves, they could spend $1.4 billion a year on wages, medical insurance, and pension plans for their employees???
We all know the answer to that question.
