Let us prepare to celebrate this temporal confluence of digits that will grace our electronic devices on this Friday, as it is a self-evidently positive development. After all, 10 out of the 12 digits are 1's. If you count the second-hand when it reaches the 11th second, we have 12 out of the 14 digits as 1's. If you took the "20" from "2011" and right-shifted 1 from the "2", then you'd have all 14 out of 14 digits as 1's. So close!
But for those who are skeptical about the significance of this glorious moment, let's go back through history and examine what happened in a similar moment, i.e., the year 1111, on the 11th day of the 11th month at precisely the 11th hour and 11th minute.
To begin this research, I peered into the magical History Orb, which can tell you what happened in any given year and month throughout history.
Here is what I found:
Historical Events for November 1111
Returned no entries.
OK, that's not very exciting, but generally speaking, historically significant events tend to lean to the destructive side anyway. So, maybe it is a positive sign that nothing of great significance happened during that month and year
More research turns up a similarly auspicious sign:
How to Interpret 11/11/11 aka 11-11-11; Friday, November 11, 2011.
Even when taking into account the differences between the Gregorian and Julian calendars:
Nothing significant appears to have happened nine-hundred years ago during the year 1111.
Also, perhaps there is more potential for something good to happen on 11/11/2011 than on 11/11/1111, because now there will be more awareness of this rare moment, due to the worldwide use of the Gregorian calendar and the ease with which ideas circle the globe. And as I write this, there are two polls which show a plurality expecting something good to happen:
How to Interpret 11/11/11 aka 11-11-11; Friday, November 11, 2011.
What do you believe will happen on 11/11/11?
46% Something good will happen on a global scale.
41% Nothing will happen (just another day in the Land of Nod).
13% Something bad will happen on a global scale.
11,499 people have voted in this poll.
11/11/11; Do you feel lucky today?
71% Yes.
29% No.
9,235 people have voted in this poll.
Maybe the hope for a great day shared by so much of the whole world will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. In that vein, we can make resolutions such as the following:
1) Stop and smell the roses. Celebrate the day in some way that will add some joy to you and others, however minor that may be.
2) Count your blessings. Reflect on what is going well that day or has gone well so far. If nothing's going well, then go back to resolution 1. Try to make something positive happen.
3) Perform an act of random kindness. (This page has a few ideas.) Imagine if everyone resolved to do so on the same day.
4) Make wishes for you, your loves ones, your community, and the world.
If you make a wish, then consider doing so through a little ceremony. Write your wish on a piece of paper and then follow the example in this video:
(By the way, you need a special piece of paper to make this happen. I tried and failed with tissue paper, origami, and other types as well. But I was successful with the kit sold here: Wish Paper. Here are some youtube videos that feature the kit: Video1, Video2. Also, you can use a tea bag as shown here: Video3.)
Here is another tip, which hints at the possibility that the day could be great for the seeds that were planted as well as the fruit that was harvested:

The Metaphysics Experiment
Many philosophies believe that everything happens for a reason.
It is possible that you have arrived at this page because it was destiny for you to do so.
Apparently there is a link on this (or another) page which for some reason is meant specifically for you. This page does not know which link that is; only you do.
Look for and try to sense the link or links that have the potential for a positive effect on your future: something that could introduce a new chain of thought; provide new information; or provide a new opportunity.
...
Can’t find anything that seems to have potential? Then look for something that’s simply interesting to you (that may be the key).
But however this day goes, we can look forward to another glorious day in the near future in 2012: the 12th day of the 12 month of the 12th year in the 12th minute of the 12th hour. Wow! All "12"s. Surely, a momentous day.
