Do union busting and voter suppression laws have any thing in common? We know it but does your average Joe? With the evidence that this is true, recorded for all to see, I would like to hear more from Republicans just what they think about such an attrocity. Is it ok to do these things? I know IOIYAR.
How can we show them these facts? I know Rachel Maddow and Ed and Keith all have done segments on that subject but Who else will? How do we have these conversations with people? Do you just strike up a conversation with someone you know to be a Repuplican? In this age of communication it should be easy. I get to post a diary here and email friends and relatives. There is Facebook too.
I have a coworker that writes in a local Scene magazine and offers up a whole page of justifying what Republicans do. Saying things like the people of this country should have to work hard to vote. Hell, his mom doesn't drive but she will do whatever it takes to vote. Using analogies like "When you buy a new home, do you not put a lock on the door?" Seriously. I try to talk to this guy but he won't respond.
There is another guy that will take the opposing stance and try to deflect saying Democrats do the same thing. Then he walks away. He's a Ron Paul supporter so that is a whole different ball of wax.
I know I can talk the issues better than writing about them (you other diarists rock). I guess I am more verbal.
Having the local Recall Walker Office on my route will make it easier to get involved and maybe more canvassing will help me have more conversations with people and help them understand.
