Herman Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon
walks back Mark Block's
false claim that the campaign had confirmed Karen Kraushaar's son worked for Politico:
"Based upon information available at the time of Mr. Block's Tuesday night interview on Fox News, the campaign was led to believe that Mr. Josh Kraushaar, currently with the National Journal and a former employee of Politico, was the son of Karen Kraushaar," Gordon said. "Mr. Josh Kraushaar is in fact, not related to Ms. Karen Kraushaar."
Obviously they had no choice but to admit that Mark Block was wrong ... because Mark Block was wrong. But the weird thing here is that they are still defending Mark Block for making the claim, saying that the "the campaign was led to believe" his allegation was true "based upon information available at the time" of the Hannity interview.
Personally, I don't buy that for one moment. Block said he had "confirmed" the information that turned out not to be true. Sure, he could have made a mistake, but if you watch the video, his body language is that of a liar. There's no way he was telling the truth.
All the same, I'd love to hear their explanation for what "information" led Block to make his totally unfounded claim.
In related news, Fox will correct the record on air later today.
