Before I wander off in a Perry-esque brainfog, be sure to take a look beneath orange gnocchi doodle for an awesome Visual Top Comment display from jotter. Go ahead-- click on each image-- great fun.
Now, where was I? Oh yes, lost in a fantasy. As winter comes my mind turns to something I've never done and may not ever get the chance to do: Take a year off and travel the world. I'd love to have no itinerary, just an initial destination (New Zealand?) where we'd spend a few weeks or months and from there mosey off to spend as long as we like in any given place. Maybe we'd rent a little house or apartment and really get to know a region. I'd love to hear of any ideas for this fantasy trip because the more I think about things like this the more likely they are to come to pass.
If you had a year off to travel, with unlimited time to spend in any location on earth, where would you go and why?

Gotcher WRITTEN Top Comments Right Here!
Thanks to tonight's Top Comments contributors! Let us hear from YOU when you find that not-so-ordinary comment.
From brillig:
Great discussion to be found in Winter Rabbit's late-nite diary still legal in Oklahoma to kill an Indian", but there was digression of the "which racism is worse" nature. raptavio gets my nod for this: the measure of racism oughtn't be relative to other racism.
from Angie in WA State:
This comment by Buckeye Nut Schell in Judge Skewers SEC Citibank Action As "Just For Show" by Tasini because it's hard to find truthiness and truthfulness - all in the same sentence. Plus, it was the first thing to make me laugh all damned day!
From Dragon5616:
JanF starts a funny thread about the Perry gaffe in J Town: Got Post? today. You can ignore my comment, but don't miss Hedwig, smileycreek, and paradise50. And be sure to watch the outstandingly funny video that belinda ridgewood found.
From sardonyx:
hannah says that moving the student loan program into the Department of Education is a good thing, and why.
In Mike Stark's diary about the police beating students participating in Occupy Berkeley, GenXangster notes that this country's mask is slipping off again, which is an ominous sign.
and from your humble poster, smileycreek:
These two comments are long (diary-worthy) descriptions of California University protests after Kent State in 1970 in catilinus' diary, Occupy Cal: Take a Guess Who Will Win the Steps. RvgAqs gives a hair-raising personal account of how students in Isla Vista, near UC Santa Barbara, rose up and were brutally fought by "If it is to be a bloodbath, let it be now" Governor Ronald Reagan, and then continues in even more astonishing and diary-worthy detail to chronicle Reagan's brutal attitude towards the protesters.
and
Richard Cranium explains why Mitt Romney got stuck with running for President in 2012 in Something the Dog Said's entertaining diary, A Bit of a Wild Night at the GOP Goat Rodeo.
And Now, a Little Top Mojo!
