This ground swell called the "Occupy" movement is not about Capitalism. This is not about Rich vs. Poor. Not even about health care.
It is about Justice.
In a wonderful book by Milan Kundera, "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" (much better than the movie), the protagonist publishes a letter that compares the "moderated" post-Stalinist communists rulers of Czechoslovakia (1967) to king Oedipus - the guy that killed his dad and married his mom without knowing who they were. When he found out, Oedipus burned his own eyes as a self punishment.
Its not enough, says Kundera, to claim that "you are sorry". You should offer proof of being sorry. Taking out your own eyes is proof enough.
That's justice.
You disobeyed the law: offer reparations, give back ill gained income, go to jail, and come back for a second chance.
You were unethical: return your gains and expose yourself.
It is time to bring shame for being wrong back to America.
Henry Paulson should give back what he can from the 10 billion dollar he made in the AIG deal for Goldman Sachs, his former employer, while secretary of the treasury. Jon Corzine should be personally bankrupt, having used leverage after supposedly lobbying against it. Rupert Murdoch should offer to go to jail for his newspaper hacking scandal even if he did not know it.
(This was also the opinion of a respected republican (yes there was one): Colin Powell. In his memoir his only `beef' with America was with the fact that people today have no shame when they do wrong. Now that Republicans that destroyed 1/2 a trillion dollar by causing US credit rating downgrade are only bragging about this snafu, rather than being shamed - I am waiting and waiting for General Powell to put his mouth where his heart used to be.)
