Apparently the ruling elite, the sold-out political class and oligarchy, fear this movement. They see that the occupy movement is strong and growing, therefore, they are willing to risk using violence against the movement, shutting down the right to freedom of assembly in the process.
Fighting you, they in effect are acknowledging their own fear of the occupy movement. Fear is defining their reaction to the movement nationally and internationally, with violent police crackdowns. Why do they fear us?
Because the occupy movement is exposing the corrupt collusion between the political class and the financial "industry". They are smarting from the exposure, angry and rageful. The actions of the police reflect this anger and rage.
It is telling that not a single Congressional member, to my knowledge, has condemned the violence against protesters or made a move to try to assist them in some way against this police repression.
It is telling that the White House has not issued a statement yet, condemning the police violence against the protesters.
Congress and the White House have a vested interest in shutting down this movement, in remaining silent while people are violently attacked and brutalized.
Congress and the White House are embarrassed, shamed and humiliated by the movement, whether they admit this or not. While most of the targets of protesters have been financial institution and the GOP, it is only a matter of time before protesters begin to call out Democratic Party sell-outs to the oligarchy.
If you search the signs during protests, individuals are already calling out the Democratic party and White House. It is only a matter of time before a collective call-out is issued to the political class of both major parties for their craven support of policies that benefit the 1% at the expense of the 99%.
Many people rightly feel now is the time, because we are running out of time to save and rehabilitate democratic principles and principles of economic justice. The violent crackdown on encampments, and the cold silence emanating from D.C., in indicative that the ruling class will not cave easily to demands for reform.
Silence, in the face of police violence...is complicity.
