CNN this morning is blaming Grover Norquist for the "failure" of the Supercommittee. I disagree.
Mr. Norquist is doing exactly what he should be doing. He has an issue and is pushing it with every means at his disposal. He's a private citizen and has the right to do so. After all, snakes bite and jackals steal food - that's just who they are and what they do.
The fault is the GOP Senators and Representatives who cannot or will not do the jobs that they were elected to do. They are not interested in participating in a government "of the people, by the people and for the people". They refuse to accept compromise as an essential method of governing. They refuse to work together to find answers that work for the whole country and not just the 1%.
And the problem is exacerbated by the obscene amounts of private and corporate money available to "influence" them.
This is the entire 2012 campaign issue in a nutshell.
