If I know MSNBC - and I think I know MSNBC, there will be shows tonight, tomorrow night, and Wednesday night. Thursday will not only be Thanksgiving, but it'll be Thanksgiving prison porn, AND Friday will be Black Friday prison porn. Do I get a shiny new dime if I'm correct? ;D
Let's move to "this day in history." On this date in 1922, Rebecca L. Felton of Georgia was sworn in as the first woman to serve in the U.S. Senate. Before you get too excited about this fact, read about some of the beliefs that brought her to the Senate.
On this date in 1973, President Richard Nixon's attorney, J. Fred Buzhardt, revealed the existence of an 18 1/2-minute gap in one of the White House tape recordings related to Watergate. It's probably with Amelia Earhart & Jimmy Hoffa.
On with The Rachel Maddow Show!
"This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" - Newt the Nazi Lover is the GOBP "leader" in the most recent Gallup poll. Was this poll pre or post Fannie Mae cool million news? Newt's been in politics for a LONG damn time. I vaguely remember GOPAC. Newt used to send "inspirational" tapes? Oh, I can JUST imagine what was on THOSE mothers. Did he offer marriage advice? He intends to teach while he's POTUS - for a for - profit institution, I'm sure. ;D Oh, he'll find a way to get paid. Let's perish the thought of him winning, OK?! He instructed fellow GOBP to use some lovely words to describe Dems. Now, he's all for ditching child labor laws. Newt's not the first to entertain that thought this year. Today, Newt mentioned privatizing Social Security since it worked SO WELL with GWB. So much for him being a history teacher! If you've taken a history class with him, demand your money back because he doesn't know his history from his most recently divorced wife! EJ Dionne gets Newt duty - sort of. ;D If anyone knows about fights with the opposite sex, it would be Newtie! Today's GOBP want to move us back to the 1880s on a whole mess of issues. So, who will the first candidate be to say pesky women shouldn't be able to vote? The stubbornness of the GOBP in the "super" Congress isn't getting much "beltway media" coverage. Well DUH!
"Machine Against the Rage" - Here's UC - Davis again. I didn't know we had a "pain ray!" Good sparking grief, Rachel; don't give the cops any ideas for new weapons against Occupy protestors! The prevalence of these "non lethal" weapons has only increased the number of instances of police activity & use of these weapons. Cops now have more ways to use force. LRADS are beginning to be used; it's a sound cannon designed to bust your ear drums if you stick around too long. Ray Lewis is a retired Philly police captain who was arrested in NYC last week. Use of force is necessary if officers were met with force ONLY TO THE EXTENT OF THE FORCE USED AGAINST THE OFFICERS. Officer Lewis was disgusted by what happened at UC - Davis last week. He didn't plan to be arrested last week. Officer Lewis, do you think your arrest would've been "professional" if you hadn't been wearing your uniform? He hopes relations between police & protestors can improve, and he'd like to help. Well, good luck, honey; you might start at UC - Davis.
"Hostile Environment" - President Dick Nixon created the EPA - a fact that today's GOBP prefers to disremember. Photographers went around the country around 1970 to show the impact of an EPAless country. "Senator" {insert retching noise here} & DOCTOR Rand Paul thinks emissions might be good for your breathing. :) His biggest donor is the coal industry. Well, guess THAT explains it. ;D The EPA put our country in the economic terlet - not Wall Street & the too big to fail banks treating the stock market & our money like a casino. Lisa Jackson is the head of the EPA & in studio. A whole mess of the GOBP wants her & her stinking organization wants to go the spark away. The environment didn't use to be a partisan issue - until now. Breathing is awfully damn over - rated. And, it looks COOL to be able to set your tap water on fire!
"Surprise! Surprise!" - The stock market had a less - than - positive reaction to even the rumor of the "super" Congress failing. The committee waited until after the stock market closed to announce they'd FUBARred. $1.2 trillion dollars was scheduled to be cut anyway; this "super" Congress was supposed to figure out how to do it. When they failed, automatic cuts are scheduled to be triggered. Senator McCentury & his Mini - Me from SC are authoring legislation to prevent the defense cuts. Speaker Sobber feels bound by the automatic cuts? Well, THAT won't last long. President Obama has vowed to veto any efforts to put the kibosh on the triggers.
