Deutsche Bank (the puns write themselves) may have attempted to set a world record yesterday as they attempted to evict a 103 year old woman from her house, along with her eighty-three year old daughter.
Fortunately for everyone but some bean counter at Deutsche Bank, the Sherriff sent to supervise the eviction and the Movers sent to carry the woman and her belongings out the door refused.
It takes a lot of stupid to order the eviction of a hundred and three year old woman. And some (often lacking) common sense not to follow asinine laws and absurd orders. So here's to those who said
FUCK NO!
to Deutsche Bank. The Bank may get the house in the end, but at least for today, sanity, if not law, prevailed.
If the #Occupy movement had any sense, this is what they'd be concentrating almost all their resources on for the next few months while the weather is unfavorable to #occupations and demonstrations. Why not literally declare war on foreclosures and evictions? And then act accordingly?
Nothing is more evocative of the plight of the 99% than when a family is kicked out of their home after losing their job, getting ill, or having some other catastrophe ensue. Nothing makes better press than defending such people and their homes, when done correctly. Nothing goes back to the roots of the #Occupy movement better than the slogan
Banks Got Bailed Out. We Got Sold Out.
Stop the Foreclosures. Stop the Evictions. Stop the Banks.
