Well, I had hoped to make my first diary entry something interesting and pithy, but the best laid plans etc, etc.
It looks like a collection company (and apparently a rather nasty one) is spoofing their caller ID -- using my home phone number. As a result, we're getting calls from irate people who've been called (and threatened) by this collection company.
At the moment, I do not know what company is using my number, because I haven't answered any of the calls, and the person who did didn't ask the people calling. I do plan to get this information when I'm afforded the opportunity.
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything I can do about this. It appears clear that by spoofing the number, the company is violating the Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009. However, as the company isn't calling -me,- I can't see that I have any recourse, and my phone company basically told me I'm screwed.
At the moment, my only options are a nasty phone call to the company once I find out who it is. Well, that, and possibly a telephonic DOS attack if I can't get satisfaction after doing so.
