A couple of days ago, the story of a hundred and three year old woman and her eighty three year old daughter being evicted from their home broke. Only the refusal of sheriffs and movers to physically evict a 103 year old woman stood between the law and sanity.
The Ghost of the French Revolution Past must have visited Deutsche Bank in the interim, because it has just announced that they will allow the women to stay in their home of fifty years.
Following the public outcry in support of Lee, Chase Bank, which services the loan on Hall's house on Penelope Road that's owned by Deutsche Bank now said it has no plans to evict Hall or her daughter. The bank will instead work out an arrangement with the family so they can keep the home.
Let's hear it for everyone who made this possible: occupiers, activists, sheriffs, movers, reporters, politicians -- both those seeking publicity and those trying to do the right thing -- and ordinary people who were just plain outraged.
Of course not everyone is able to get support of the Mayor and a State Senator, along with publicity from local television, for their plight. But #OccupyHomes and other allied groups around the country are working to make scenes like this happen to more than a fortunate handfull.
You can help. Check out Declare War on the Big Banks. Then sign the pledge to resist home foreclosures, and also find a National Day of Action event near you.

To evict someone from their home, banks MUST prove standing and authentic documents. Lacking this, they intimidate families. No more. #ows
