I'm not sure if anyone has caught this yet, but Fox's "straight" news flat-out lied about President Obama today. It came during "Special Report."
No surprise there, eh?
Here's the video posted by an eager beaver Republican desperate to prove something that didn't happen.
For those who can't access the video, here's what Fox News said:
-Obama called out the GOP for voting against the payroll tax cut extension last Thursday.
-Fox News says he lied because 20 Republicans voted for it.
Now, imagine hearing the news last week that the vote failed to achieve cloture, but then hearing from Fox News that 20 Republicans voted for it. That would have easily achieved cloture, going over 70 votes.
So what was Fox News talking about? This:
Motion to Proceed to Consider S. 1931; A bill to provide civilian payroll tax relief, to reduce the Federal budget deficit, and for other purposes.
That's Senate Bill 1931, sponsored by Dean Heller (R-NV). This bill was a competing version of the Democrats payroll tax cut extension, but it voted to end unemployment and SNAP benefits for millionaires, reduce federal employees, freeze the salaries of federal employees who have jobs and increase Medicare Part B and D for higher-income beneficiaries.
THIS is the bill that 20 Republicans voted for.

And THIS is the bill that Republicans voted against 46-1.

Now, does Fox News want to seriously tell us that President Obama held a presser to beat down the Republicans about voting against their own bill? That is ridiculous in so many ways.
Typical Fox News.
