Good morning, home repair friends.
I may be jumping someone's gun, but I've been asked to help promote awareness of the DKos subscription blogathon.
Yes, you can subscribe to Daily Kos, and not have to see advertising. There are other benefits to being a subscriber, which you will be hearing all about this week, and, most importantly, the option of a "lifetime" subscription will be eliminated in a couple of weeks and Kossaks will have to subscribe annually, if they don't already have their precious lifetime sub paid for.
I bought mine years ago, back when I was working all the time, and it is one of the better c-notes I've ever spent. Spread out over time, I am ad-free for 4 cents a day, and I get the satisfaction of having put my money where my mouth is.
I don't have time here to list the additional benefits of subscribing, but time is running out for the non-subscribed to join and get them for themselves. Watch for details in additional diaries to come in the sub-drive blogathon in the next few weeks until the door closes.
On the Home front, I've been helping in the neighborhood with a few frozen pipes after an early bout with sub-zero temperatures this week (3 below zero here in the first week of December is NOT usual). There has been significant movement on the Drinking water coop's financial woes, as we voted to join with an alliance of 9 other small coops nearby who are facing similar issues. Instead of 10 separate offices and billing systems and meter readers and certified operators, these functions will be performed by one entity. Basically, I won't have to turn off my neighbor's water for non-payment, a faceless bureaucracy will do it for me and it stops being personal. Seems like a good idea, everyone agreed, and we'll see how it works out.
16 degrees here as I catch a glimpse of the eclipsed full moon as it sets in the west at first light.
I'm still working on getting a couple of paying jobs lined up and will not have much to say this morning, as I am busy crunching numbers and getting them in a row to tell a plausible story about what the work will cost.
Watch for links to Subscription Blogathon info. I'm sure someone will provide them soon.
Thanks for listening.
