Teacher's Comments from Mrs. Harmon:
My Students: My students are working in a lab that hasn't had supplies replenished in more than five years. When I moved into this room, I threw away boxes of broken beakers and test tubes. We need basic lab supplies so that we can test the water and soil quality of areas around our school.
My students are a great group of kids who are concerned about preserving the environment for years to come. They want to know more about the land and water quality in the area we live, and they want to know how they can improve the quality of life of animals and insects in our area.
My Project: Many of my students hike and fish. They need to learn more about the environment in which they are immersed. We would like to go out in the creek and field behind our school and investigate the water and soil quality of these areas. Are we promoting or preventing animals from moving into our area?
This project will provide the students with lasting lab supplies that will help them impact the environment for years to come. They will be very excited to get out and do something to help save this planet!
