I'm not getting verification that the gas dispensed under the edge of the tent where there doesn't appear to be any bladders is anything but inert so we do not know if that was done nefariously. I'm still trying to get verification of exactly what was being done.
Here is what the livestream blogger Korgasm related:
There appeared to be a valve on the bottom edge of the tent that was supplying an air bladder. That is what the fire fighter was doing at the 3:10 mark.
I could not conceive of this because of the poor design that would put a vulnerable point like an air valve so near the ground on a device like a tent. Tents will bounce when air currents strike them making an air valve there eventually make contact with abrasive surfaces.
That still leaves the question of why the tent was used at all.
The story fed to the media was that sparks from PVC pipe created a danger when they were cut. PVC when it is cut will never spark-ever. Even with high speed blades it will hardly ever smoulder it just gets clogged up in clumps and when really hot will thread up as hot plastic is prone to do. You would have to hold it under direct flame for a prolonged period to get it to do anything beyond melt.
Why did the police find it necessary to hide their actions and then lie about their reason for doing so?
The tent is at about 1:30 and he application of gas at about 3:10.
I think this is in Houston but I'm still looking for more info.

I'm getting conflicting reports of exactly what sort of device this tent is. This is common at the early stages of reporting as information is difficult to immediately quantify. As always I will follow up an provide the latest information as it is verified.
This device is either on of these two tents at this point the former is most likely the device.
I have a link to the device used for this little experiment in oppression:
The Fire Tent was developed in collaboration with the Mid & West Wales Fire Service in response to a perceived need to teach children how best to react in an emergency fire situation.
The Fire Tent is based on our inflatable emergency shelter which is powered by a BA Cylinder and can be set up in 5 five minutes. The adaptation incorporates a maze made with foam blocks and curtains. This maze is held together with Velcro allowing for a quick release should there be a panic inside the tent. The children enter the tent via a 'cat flap' and the tent is then filled with smoke. The tent's blackout liner helps to recreate as closely as possible the disorientation that would be experienced in a smoke filled room.
This seems to be the device used. Or not. Ironically called a rehab tent:
