To address the inequities generated within a system, it is a requirement to understand the basic underlying principles generating those inequities. Only once those natures are understood clearly can we begin to address flaws in a constructive manner.
If you'll indulge me, I would like to express my thoughts about what forces shape a truly free market capitalist society.
A used car salesman desires to sell their product to a customer. The salesman harnesses the ignorance of their customer to craft an illusion of a much more valuable car. The agenda is towards extracting the biggest pile of cash possible from their target.
The owner of a fast food diner employs dozens of people. The owner marginalizes the value of the labor provided. Any individual seeking a higher wage should be replaced with one satiated with less. This drives the cost of doing business down.
A bank customer wishes to have the most favorable returns on their savings. They could threaten to leave and do business with a competitor. This compels the bank to give a better deal.
A bakery expands their business hours, allowing a new shift manager job. The employees joust one another for the position and tout their qualifications for the promotion. This encourages good job performance.
Factory workers choose to pool their bargaining power and unionize. They threaten to withhold their collective labor from their boss in an effort to gain a higher wage. This raises the value of work.
These forces together- along with many similar ones- illustrate the nature of capitalism. Every relationship possible between workers, customers and employers is antagonistic. Every interaction is potentially rife with subterfuge, dishonesty and false compassion.
A successful used car salesman will attempt to fabricate a feeling of genuine human connection. Then lie about the value of the car and rip you off with a smile. It does not take much effort or creativity to imagine how the other relationships could use your own sense of humanity against you.
Capitalism, left completely free and unchecked, is a constant battle pitting everyone against everyone. Truth doesn't matter. Fairness doesn't matter. Quality of life doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is who can win. Capitalism is war.
