The Lying Darkness is the Imperial Guild side of the SWTOR MMO, representing Daily Kos. Our Sister Guild is Victorious Secret (that name kills me every time lol) on the Republic Side. LYDARKOS is a good place to get out your aggressions!
We hope you will join us as SWTOR picks up speed and opens for Early Access. If you are a MMO vet you don't need us for anything but hanging out, and you are welcome to Alt it up. If you are new to MMOs and considering trying this one, we have good trainers and experienced players willing to assist in this guild, so do join us or make an alt and come hang with the Great Orange Satan.
LYDARKOS is located on the Bergeron Colony Server.
(Hopefully Unnecessary PS: We do happily engage in chat about political topics of all levels of the left etc, but leave the GREAT META WARS outside. This does -not- mean don't drop links on online activism on us, that is our favorite style. We are a LGBTQ friendly guild...amazing that even has to be stated in this day and age, all should be, but nirvana has not come for all yet, apparently.)
Well Well! A few hours before waves of players are let into their servers and pre-assigned guilds in trickles of a hundred thousand or so at a time, we are at a fever pitch!
Since we last spoke, I found the lovely SWTOR-RP page at http://swtor-rp.com/. It has been in operation for two years. It is probably safe to say this was the refuge and org point for the fleeing SWG players. They have a project up (subject to normal roleplayer dramatics, of course.)
It is called the RP-Megaserver project. Basically, the SWTOR-RP community would plant en masse on the RP server most Guilds of the 180 represented by the community were assigned to. The winner by a long shot was Lord Adraas Server. There is some minor kvetching about having to jump servers from some, but most of the 4000-strong community are going to Adraas.
My guild leader is not okay with this, however, which is fine, I knew he leaned PVE-Raid hard anyway. So The Lying Darkness will remain on Bergeron Colony RP West Coast.
I will be alt-tastic regardless, with alts in Victorious Secret where ever they get assigned or choose, on Lord Adraas server (yeah, that's just my style) and probably even on a PVP server to test my Ability Builds from time to time.
Passing The Time
Two long weeks. I was busy job hunting for one of them, so the time wasn't so bad. When I had time, I distracted myself on http://DarthHater.com . Like the old WoWhead site, TORhead and Darth Hater have ability tree design tools free on their site. I have been building crazy versions of the Sith Warrior tree, some not relying on the classic 'max one tree like stupid' style. I found a 17 Vengeance/24 Immortal build I really liked, and I will definitely try a number of variants, depending on the cost of respec. With all the forum complaining about respeccing (even some requesting AC shifting, tsk tsk!) I think they'll keep it low.
For me, I guess it depends on the utility of 'Endure Pain' combat self heal. If truly awesome, then I'll max out Immortal tree. Ah well, it's only a few hours before I get some answers.
A Preorder Conundrum!
I preordered SWTOR from Best Buy three days after it went on sale. Best Buy waited two months till a special moment where my credit was hinky without my knowing to cancel the order. I have since of course reordered through Gamestop, a physical copy instead of the Collector's Edition (can't know why I wanted that now, I'm waay past dolls.)
My original signup to preorder was very early, and my second 'actual' purchase was about a month ago when I discovered my problem.
Word from the big guys at Bioware, for all the cancellations (I wasn't alone, apparently) is that Early Access will be honored even for preorder sales which got cancelled, until Dec 19th. So let's hope my game begins tommorow at 7am. I threw out 20 resumes last week because I knew I wasn't doing a damn thing else this week, I hope that holds true.
Though I will be in the woods of Nevada for the Holidays, my guild leader will be on full time. You can catch me in the game hopefully after the 27th. I'll be online, just not with SWTOR access, so you can brag to me about your fabulous adventures till tears come out. That too, is friendship.
A pleasant find!
This won't be news to anyone who played KOTOR, but for me, who never played any of the series, there is a series of watercolor guides for SWTOR's backstory from Bioware. It is probably hosted on SWTOR.com but I wouldn't try it, the site is ridiculously swamped right now.
Enjoy this link, I found it a soothing prelude to tomorow and the coming game play.
