Fortunately for Mitt Romney, Frank Gaffney was
unavailable to fearmonger about how the crescent in
South Carolina's flag
proves it is a terror state
So Mitt Romney's getting an assist from a pair of early state governors. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley—who endorsed Romney in 2008—is
once again throwing her weight behind his campaign, endorsing him earlier today. And Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, while avoiding a Romney endorsement,
went out of his way to question Newt Gingrich's fitness for office.
But along with the help comes increased expectations. As Republican strategist Mike Murphy Tweets about the Haley endorsement:
Like saki, feels good but later? A nasty expectations hangover...
Then again, the importance of expectations might be overrated. After all, at the end of the day, the way you win is by winning. And if you don't win, you can't really blame your loss on the fact that people thought you would win.
