For our first date my wife and I went on a hike to a waterfall and sat under the waterfall to read The Hobbit. When we married we spent each night for months reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We were married on Dec 1st, so, a year later, our second Christmas being married, we watched The Fellowship of the Ring in theaters. And each Christmas for the next two years we watched Lord of the Rings movies as they released. It became a part of our Christmas tradition.
Last night we fell asleep late into the night watching The Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers (my favorite film of the trilogy) Extended Edition (of course) and we woke up an hour ago to realize that we slept through Christmas morning. Oops. Yeah, we don't have children, yet, so, that's the only way THAT happened. But we are working on remedying that. Hopefully, in a year, while we are watching The Hobbit in theaters, we will be either worried about water breaking or about being away from our first baby for over 3 hours. :P
Today, we have some fun planned with my brother who just woke up. We are opening presents to each other, of course. We are going to see the new Mission Impossible movie. We are playing monopoly (a tradition my brother and I have). We are going to eat way too many calories. I'll call my sister. My wife will call her family. And tonight we will be falling asleep watching The Return of the King late into the night (after finishing The Two Towers). As good a day as I could wish for.
By the way, I am listening to the soundtrack for the Woody Allen movie Midnight in Paris on iTunes right now. Wow, what a fantastic soundtrack to a fantastic movie. If you haven't seen it you have to watch the trailer.
