I'd like to thank the academy, my advisors, my lawyers, my nutritionist, my chef, and my yoga instructor. And most of all, I'd like to thank the wonderful person, that anonymous benefactor who gave me a lifetime gift subscription to Daily Kos. I can't let the occasion go by without saying such and there appears to be no other way to do it other than write a diary (post) or send a message to all 300K plus Kossacks from my Page. I actually considered that second option but realized that might be a little tacky. So I'll waste some space on the Recent Diaries list. Anything derogatory I said about all the stupid diaries thanking others for lifetime subscriptions, please disregard. :) I've learned that if it happens to you, you go with the flow.
Some are probably saying, "WTF, someone gave HIM a subscription!" Others are probably saying, "Well WTF are you?", and still others are saying, "Shut TF Up!". But it doesn't matter now, I have a benefactor. I know many others have benefactors but many do not. But actually, as a liberal I have to feel for those that don't have benefactors yet. I hope they don't give up, the world works in ways we can't always understand.
I look around and yes, it seems different. That girl in the tight T-shirt is missing from the top right. Jennie, I mean she, was a welcome sight when I came here but hopefully I can run across her elsewhere. I hope she understands. This is a community and Jennie, I mean she, was always somehow kind of, distant. Beautiful but distant. Although I must admit that lately, well, it doesn't matter now. Anyway, I have her number, 867-5309.
Based on my behavior here sometimes I don't know why someone would give me such a gift. I can be acerbic, sarcastic, contrarian, stupid, and downright onery at times. I focus mostly on antiwar and foreign policy and affairs stuff and most probably sound like a broken record 90 percent of the time. I've tried to leave numerous times, writing a GBCW I think at some point and a TTFN not all that long ago. I became a member in August 2007 because of a certain progression in life that happened to all of us. We came here. Then we stayed. And tried to leave, stayed, shit.
We've all talked about the community of the place. "Came for the politics, stayed for the community". I think the level of that depends on how one involves him or herself here. Some involve themselves more than others and participate in regular speciality discussions such as home repair, gardening, Black Kos, IGTNT, etc., where they get to know each other more than thru some of the political discussions. I haven't done alot of that but my consistency on the issues I focus on has certainly brought me together with like minded people. Man, in todays world, like minded people are your friends. "What, you're against war!? I love you man!"
Anyway, I feel a little cheesy doing this but that's partly because when I usually say thank you it's with a mutter and a grunt. So to my benefactor: mutter, grunt. I won't guess who you are but I will promise you I'm just getting started. Yes, this is very much appreciated. And to everyone else, you're good people and I'm glad to know ya. May the New Year bring blessings to you and yours.
