Dauphin Island Sea Lab LYING for $5M from BP
Dauphin Island Sea Lab said that the Dolphins are miscarrying and baby Dolphins are dying because of 'cold water'.
SO I check the Ocean temperature anomaly charts and ... it's no colder out there than it has ever been. Actually the main temps are warmer. And other biologists are saying that if a cold water mass moves into an area- Dolphins just swim out to warmer masses.
At this point I am smelling you-know-what. So I do a search and find this:
Dauphin Island Sea Lab Historical and current funding and their sources
Dates Funding Source Amount Status
2005 -2007 Conoco Phillips $2M
2010-2011 BP $970K
2010-2011 BP $5M No restrictions on use
So basically the independent Dauphin Island Lab would probably blame little green men from Mars for the death of ANYTHING to avoid implicating their new sugar-daddy; BP.
One of the listed ingredients in both Corexit oil dispersal products that were sprayed and dumped by the millions of gallons right about the time these Dolphins were 4-8 weeks pregnant:
Reproductive Hazard
2-Butoxy Ethanol may damage the developing fetus.
There is limited evidence that 2-Butoxy Ethanol may damage the male reproductive system (including decreasing the sperm count) in animals and may affect female fertility in animals.
It's also a carcinogen.
"Scientists in the Gulf already were in the midst of investigating last year's discovery of nearly 90 dead dolphins, most of them adults, when officials became alarmed at a surge in dead baby dolphins turning up on beaches in January.
The latest spike in deaths, and a high concentration of premature infants among them, has led some experts to speculate that oil ingested or inhaled by dolphins at the time of the spill has taken a belated toll on the marine mammals, possibly leading to dolphin miscarriages. (Not one mention of Corexit- bstards)
The die-off has come at the start of the first dolphin calving season in the northern Gulf since the BP blowout.
But scientists at the independent Dauphin Island Sea Lab in Alabama suggested on Thursday that unusually chilly water temperatures in the Gulf may be a key factor."
Actually, that $5M payout from BP for this pathetic excuse is a key factor.
Now what happens if women start miscarrying in the area? Are they going to blame cold showers? A chilly breeze? Eating ice cream too fast?
You would think $5M would at least buy a more logical excuse than "..uh.. it was cold water. Yea. Cold water!". That way it looks like Global Warming isn't happening either. BP will love us for that!
Scientists who lie for big business to the detriment of health and welfare of citizens should go up on criminal charges.
