That is the question. I think.
Two schools of thought, conflicting ideology, the Great Divide, different RULES for different folks, Class Warfare, Two Political Parties, Who's in charge and maybe the why America is falling apart at the seams.
I am not a history buff, not a literal thinker, have little skin in this game (not money oriented) but have always had that curiosity to explore, find out how people and things tick, a need to know and love to connect the dots.
For years, especially since Ronald McReagan was elected I have been interested in politics, because of the philisophical ideology which I found more interesting than religious voo doo stuff.
And for years I often heard many Republicans, Libertarians, the Federalist spout "America is a Republic, not a Democracy", while most Democrats spout "We live in a Democracy."
Which is it for christ's sakes???
In Present day, due to the Corporatist governing now in control, all of our lives and our well-being is in jeopardy.
Why? Why? Why and Why now I keep asking myself (and the Universe).
Much of the change is because of the Corporations and the Republican Religious Corporate Control Puppets who have been empowered to Proclaim the Power of the Republic.
Throughout history most REPUBLICS end in Anarchy or Tyranny. Get the picture?
What is a Republic?
A republic is a form of government in which the people, or some significant portion of them, retain supreme control over the government, at least in theory, and where offices of state are not granted through heritage.[1][2] The common modern definition of a republic is a government having a head of state who is not a monarch.[3][4] The word "republic" is derived from the Latin phrase res publica, which can be translated as "a public affair", and often used to describe a state using this form of government.

republic definition
A form of government in which power is explicitly vested in the people, who in turn exercise their power through elected representatives. Today, the terms republic and democracy are virtually interchangeable, but historically the two differed. Democracy implied direct rule by the people, all of whom were equal, whereas republic implied a system of government in which the will of the people was mediated by representatives, who might be wiser and better educated than the average person. In the early American republic, for example, the requirement that voters own property and the establishment of institutions such as the Electoral College were intended to cushion the government from the direct expression of the popular will.
I guess my question is this the Root of the evil, insanity before us? And if so what do we do?
Anyone who tries to serve TWO Masters- Church and State- or two forms of governance-Democracy and Republic- and do either well at the same time is just asking for failure. It's impossible.
Gosh Rick Perry is the Absolute Shining Example (thank you god) available for us to OBSERVE the truth about trying to serve two masters, and how idiotic that task is.
Are we just friggin' STUCK in this mess?
I do know getting Corporate Control Money out of political campaigns and Amending the Corporate Personhood in the constitution are TWO things we should be able to work together on, but...
Aside from completely starting over, as my 81 yr old democratic union membered dad, keeps saying, my mother and I are kind of putting our stock on Mother Nature.
OY!
