Via TPM, a manager at Pizza Ranch has renamed their Chicken Salad...Santorum Salad. Seriously. I'm not kidding.
I guess this would consist of chicken (the original white meat) in some kind of frothy mixture with some special sauce.
In case you think that this is some liberal humor at Santorum's expense, per the LA times...
Conservatives like Pizza Ranch because it's a Christian-oriented restaurant whose mission is "to glorify God by positively impacting the world we live in" and whose charity blog, PizzaRanchServes, often discusses passages from the Bible.
"We call it Christian Pizza because it is a chain that's also a ministry, which does good works in a faith-centered way," said Steffen Schmidt, an Iowa State University professor.
Yessiree, I'll have a Jesus pizza with a side of Santorum Salad, and make it really Christian for me will ya.
This all reminds me of the days when the teabaggers first realized what teabagging was.
Please feel free to name any other food items that you think would better be named Santorum.
2:05 PM PT: Many years ago, I worked in India. The local ice cream shop listed a special "Golden Shower Fantasy" on their menu. I never ordered it on the off chance I knew what it was. I think I will follow the same rule with the Santorum Salad.
Update 2: Per Doc2, via Edge on the Net,
This super-conservative, super- Christian restaurant mini-empire has dirty little secret in its closet. One of its two co-founders, Lawrence Vander Esch, who still lives in Hull, was sentenced in 2001 to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to fondling teenage male employees of the Pizza Ranch in Hull. According to blogger Aksarbent, Vander Esch persuaded the men them "to donate semen samples for a medical research project."
Vander Esch was released in March 2005 for good behavior. "A month before his release, the Iowa Supreme Court ruled in a separate case that sexual abuse does not occur if a defendant deceives a victim to get consent to perform a sex act," aksarbent reports. "The ruling was applied retroactively to Vander Esch."
You just can't make this shit up. I don't know whether to laugh, cry or what. Christ I hate Christian Conservatives.
