Just got through watching the Rose Bowl in which the Oregon Ducks beat the Wisconsin Badgers, 45-38. That had to be the most exciting Rose Bowl I ever saw and maybe the most exciting game I ever saw.
Holy Moly, not many games have kept me on the edge of my seat like that. I've watched all but one of the Ducks games this year and this was the toughest one I ever saw, including the 2 they lost.
Record setting: Highest scoring ever. Highest scoring first half. Highest scoring first quarter. First time the Ducks won a Rose Bowl since 1917. First BCS championship for Chip Kelly the coach who took them to the ROse Bowl two years ago (lost to Ohio State) and then to the BCS Chamionship against Auburn--they lost that one too.
Wisconsin played a helluva game---they scored first and then kept the lead or tied all through the first half.
Some super field running mostly from the Ducks. De Anthony Thomas, a freshman was just phenomenal, making a 91 yard touchdown run in the first quarter and a 61 yard TD run in the 2d quarter. Lavasier Tuinei caught 8 passes for 160 yds and 2 TDs, he was offensive player of the game. Darren Thomas the QB was also spectacular, connecting some phenomenal passes. He had some great receivers.
SO congrats to the Ducks, to their fans, to the UO and whoever else may be conga-lining around Eugene as you read this.
